Talk to Abel @ Artisan’s Workshop in Falador.
- First collect a pair of tongs from the tool desk.
- Grab a hammer.
- You’ll need to make ingots. To make them, deposit your selected ores into the furnace. Using noted ores will rapidly speed this up.
- Don’t forget to include coal if you want to work with any metal other than iron.
- Then, order a grade IV ingot in the metal type that you wish to work. The better the metal type, the greater the experience.
- Speak with Egil or Abel and collect plans for that metal type.
- Now, using your tongs, heat up the ingot in one of the furnaces.
- Use your ingot on one of the ceremonial sword anvils to start making your sword.
- You need to hammer the sword into the design shown.
- Choose points along the sword, hammering away as it cools. Once the sword is cool, you will no longer be able to work the sword.
- There are different strengths of ‘hit’.
- A hard hit can make a dent of 0 – 5 cm on your sword.
- A medium hit can make a dent of 0 – 3 cm on your sword.
- A soft hit can make a dent of 0 – 2 cm on your sword.
- A careful hit will always make a dent of 1 cm on your sword, but will take twice the time and will cool your sword quicker.
- Be careful: if you make a dent of more than 6 cm on the breadth of the blade, or 8 cm on the point, the sword will shatter.
- Once your sword is as close to the plans as possible, or it has cooled down, speak to Egil.
- He will reward you with extra experience based on how closely you kept to the design.
