Talk to Abel @ Artisan’s Workshop in Falador.

  1. First collect a pair of tongs from the tool desk.
  2. Grab a hammer.
  3. You’ll need to make ingots. To make them, deposit your selected ores into the furnace. Using noted ores will rapidly speed this up.
  4. Don’t forget to include coal if you want to work with any metal other than iron.
  5. Then, order a grade IV ingot in the metal type that you wish to work. The better the metal type, the greater the experience.
  6. Speak with Egil or Abel and collect plans for that metal type.
  7. Now, using your tongs, heat up the ingot in one of the furnaces.
  8. Use your ingot on one of the ceremonial sword anvils to start making your sword.
  9. You need to hammer the sword into the design shown.
  10. Choose points along the sword, hammering away as it cools. Once the sword is cool, you will no longer be able to work the sword.
  11. There are different strengths of ‘hit’.
  12. A hard hit can make a dent of 0 – 5 cm on your sword.
  13. A medium hit can make a dent of 0 – 3 cm on your sword.
  14. A soft hit can make a dent of 0 – 2 cm on your sword.
  15. A careful hit will always make a dent of 1 cm on your sword, but will take twice the time and will cool your sword quicker.
  16. Be careful: if you make a dent of more than 6 cm on the breadth of the blade, or 8 cm on the point, the sword will shatter.
  17. Once your sword is as close to the plans as possible, or it has cooled down, speak to Egil.
  18. He will reward you with extra experience based on how closely you kept to the design.
